To ensure the gas lift cylinder fits your office chair, you need to check the outer and inner diameter of your broken gas lift cylinder. This replacement part fits the one with an outer diameter of 2" and an inner diameter of 1.1".
The process of installing the gas lift cylinder on your own is relatively straightforward. First, tip the chair onto its side. Then, use a rubber mallet to tap and remove the base of the chair away from the seat. Next, use a pipe wrench to clamp tightly onto the top of the cylinder, twist, and then pull up to remove the cylinder. Finally, remove the orange cap of the new cylinder, insert the bottom of the cylinder into the center of the chair base, and carefully lift both the chair base and the chair cylinder into the chair mechanism. The parts will then fasten on their own.
